The funding round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with participation from Battery Ventures, Sapphire Ventures and Scale Venture Partners, along with financing from Silicon Valley Bank U.K. Branch.

Matillion is one of a new generation of data ETL (extract, transform and load) software used to prepared and move data from operational systems to cloud-based platforms, such as Snowflake, Databricks, Amazon Redshift, Azure Synapse and Google Big Query, for business analytics, data visualization, machine learning and other tasks.

Capturing and analyzing increasingly huge volumes of big data to develop competitive insights is one of the most complex data management challenges businesses and organizations face today.

Matillion accelerates the value of today‘s cloud data platforms, ensuring that data teams can work smarter and faster.”

Founded in 2011, Matillion has now raised a total of $160.6 million in financing, according to the Crunchbase website. That included $35 million the company raised in a Series C round in June 2019.

Matillion, with dual headquarters in Manchester, U.K. and Denver, Colo., develops cloud-native data transformation and integration tools with a product lineup that includes Matillion ETL for specific target systems (including Matillion ETL for Amazon Redshift and Matillion for Snowflake), as well as Matillion Data Loader for simple data replication between systems.

The company has expanded its executive ranks recently, hiring Shannah Van Winkle as chief customer officer, Ciaran Dynes as chief product officer, Kenneth Paqvalen as CFO and Barrett Foster as chief revenue officer.

The company launched its inaugural channel program in September 2019 and today lists such solution providers as Clarity Insights, Slalom, Sirius and Keyrus among its channel partners. Customers include Novartis, Subway and Siemens.
