Nigel Verdon, Railsbank. Nigel is a well known FinTech entrepreneur and founded three FinTech firms Evolution, Currency Cloud and more recently Railsbank.

Railsbank founded in 2016 has raised $14.4m investment capital from US, Europe and Asia and made its first acquisition in August 2020 of notorious Wirecard Card Solutions, a true Enron moment. Whilst Currency Cloud founded six years earlier in 2012 has raised over $160.2m in 10 funding rounds from the likes of GV, Visa & Notion.

Railsbank is a global banking and compliance platform that gives companies access to wholesale banking services in 5 lines of code. The platform can launch a FinTech faster than anyone else, and that’s a worldwide ability. Railsbank turbo-charges the scaling of businesses by massively reducing the time and complexity of opening bank accounts, streamlining technical integration with banks, enhancing banking functionality with core Railsbank services. The ‘Product Rails’, include: IBAN creation, issuing cards, sending, receiving and converting money, and accessing credit. The company is live in the UK, Europe, the US and SE Asia.

Guillaume Tellez, JP Morgan Strategic Investments. Guillaume focuses on sourcing and executing strategic principal equity investments in Europe for the various lines of businesses of J.P. Morgan, with a focus on capital markets, Securities Services and Asset & Wealth Management. He’s managing a portfolio of investments comprising Mosaic Smart Data, Proxymity and Access FinTech. Guillaume works closely with the different innovation programs within J.P. Morgan helping to connect innovators & inventors with JP Morgan’s expertise, data with the goal to shape the future of capital markets.


Varun Purandare, Accel Ventures. Varun focuses on enterprise software, consumer FinTech and marketplace businesses. Prior to joining Accel, he co-founded a FinTech startup that helped freelancers manage their finances. Varun was earlier at Bessemer Venture Partners and worked at Booz & Company. He grew up in Mumbai and graduated from Yale University and London Business School.

Accel works with tech startups in seed, early and growth-stage investments. The company has offices in Palo Alto, San Francisco, London and has backed some of the most exciting companies in the world, including Facebook, Flipkart, Cloudera, Slack, Dropbox, Venmo, Spotify, Privitar and Europe's first Decacorn, UiPath.

Maayan Levy, Viola FinTech. Maayan is a Principal at Viola FinTech and focuses on growing and nurturing the fund’s relationship ecosystem with both local and international VCs, companies, financial institutions, and LPs, while sourcing investment opportunities to find the future winners of FinTech. Maayan also has 7 years' experience working as an investment banker in Hong Kong, focusing on originating, structuring, and executing both on-shore and cross-border equity transactions. Viola is a cross-stage venture fund that invests in global FinTech companies alongside leading venture investors. The fund is backed by leading global banks, insurance companies and asset managers from North America, Europe, APAC and Israel. Investments include MarketInvoice the world's largest peer-to-peer invoice finance platform.

Niresh Rajah. Niresh is an executive with 20 years experience in Financial Services, Barclays, Lloyds Bank and most recently led a division in Barclays focused on Data, Regulation, Automation, Innovation (including Reg-Tech & Data Science) and large scale Transformations. He headed up a function of 150 people across 8 locations in UK & India with budget responsibility of £20m change budget & £3m P&L. Niresh is also a Board Advisor for 3 companies - A Reg-Tech, a Data company and FinTech.

Joanna Monaghan, Burges Salmon. Joanna is a director in the firm’s corporate finance team, based in the Edinburgh office. She has a broad experience of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and corporate restructuring, and works with clients across a range of sectors including financial services.
